A gubernatorial aspirant under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, has confirmed that the national working committee of the party had cleared him to contest the party primary election.
He said in a statement made available to News Express last night that the disqualification and what he described as open betrayal, resulting from “a kangaroo screening, was cancelled.”
This, he added, is a victory for democracy and a warning to politicians that politics in Nigeria cannot be business as usual.
“I have finally been cleared to partake in the PDP guber primaries. Thank you for your prayers. They worked. He listened. But PDP needs to do more,” he said.
Princewill stated that with the conclusion of the screening, the congresses for Rivers State also needed to be set aside.
”We have no clear and credible delegates list to decide our candidates from the House of Assembly to the National Assembly to Governor.
“Our prayers have brought us this far. God bless all of you for your support. Keep on praying and watch destiny take its course. Money is not everything. In the battle for Rivers state, David will always win Goliath,” he also said.
