Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam yesterday dissolved the 23 local government council chairmen in the state with immediate effect.

This was announced in a statement signed and broadcast by the secretary to the state government, Dr. David Salifu, who enjoined all the council leaders to show prompt compliance.

He further directed the sacked executives to quickly hand over the running of the affairs of the council to the director generals of administration (DGSAs) of all the affected local governments to forge with the development initiatives of the areas.

It acknowledged the loyalty, grassroots development and initiation of landmark projects to communities by the exiting chairmen during their period of office, commending them for their sportsmanship and responsive leadership qualities.
