The frosty relationship between All Progressives Congress (APC) members of Ekiti State House of Assembly and governor, Ayo Fayose, may soon be a thing of the past as leading traditional rulers in the state have intervened in a way that will bring the two parties to a roundtable even as Fayose has assured the embattled former speaker, Hon. Adewale Omirin and his colleagues of their safety.
In a communiqué issued after a closed doormeeting attended by the governor in Ado Ekiti, yesterday the monarchs expressed dismay over the level of the disaffection.
Signed by the chairman of the council, Oba Adamo Babalola, the communiqué condemned how the tussle has been externalized by the political gladiators.
It reads in part; “As major stakeholders and leaders of our people, council has decided to intervene by calling the two parties to order in the overall interest of Ekiti State.
“Council is of the strong view that the whole matter is purely domestic and ought not to have been externalized as it is currently being done.
“Council expressed strong feelings that the duo are representatives of Ekiti State and can therefore not afford to do anything inimical to the welfare and well being of the state.
“Having painstakingly considered the issues involved, council therefore resolved to invite the two parties to a round table discussion geared towards restoring peace, concord and harmonious relationship between the two arms of government.”
