Aminu Rufa’i Bello, a senior nurse in the Nigerian National Medical Team to this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia, has died in Makkah.
Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, Head of the Nigerian medical team, while confirming the death to journalists in Makkah, said that Bello, who hailed from Zaria, Kaduna State, died in his sleep Saturday night.
He described him as a hardworking nursing officer who was scheduled to reunite with his family hopefully by today (Sunday).
Dr. Kana also described late Bello as the most dedicated nurse on this year’s medical team.
He extended his heartfelt condolence to the family and colleagues over the loss and prayed for the repose of his soul and the fortitude for all to bear the loss.
The Acting Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, upon confirmation, has passed the sad news to family of the deceased in Zaria.
Officials said Bello was hale and hearty and was all about with his roommates up to midnight and without any signs of illness, only to pass on peacefully in his sleep.
