The Niger Delta Youth for Good Governance (NDYFGG) has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in what it described as worsening hardship, limited empowerment and inadequate infrastructure across Delta State.

The group made the appeal in an open letter dated September 18, 2026, and signed by its National President, Comr. Lucky O.O. Ukueku, in Asaba, Delta State. The letter, titled “Deltans Are Lamenting – A Passionate Appeal for Inclusive Governance and Human Capital Development in Delta State,” was addressed to President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Ukueku said the organisation was speaking on behalf of Deltans who, according to him, were concerned about the level of poverty, economic hardship and what he described as a lack of inclusive governance in the state.

“Deltans are lamenting. Across Delta State, our people are suffering. Poverty is increasing daily, hardship is unbearable, and governance appears to be at a standstill. This is the general cry in the streets,” he stated.

The NDYFGG president listed what he described as major challenges facing residents, including limited appointments and empowerment opportunities, inadequate support for grassroots stakeholders, deplorable rural roads, poor facilities in primary and secondary schools, high education costs and lack of electricity in some communities.

He also cited what he described as the near absence of human capital development and job creation opportunities for youths, as well as reduced benefits for youth and women leaders compared with previous administrations.

According to Ukueku, while the group acknowledged ongoing flyover projects along federal road corridors, it believed that greater attention was required in rural communities.

“We appreciate the flyover projects on the federal road corridor, but our people feel that the rural areas have been neglected,” he said.

He therefore appealed to President Tinubu to use his office to advise the Delta State Government to prioritise human capital development, expand appointments and empowerment programmes, and improve rural infrastructure.

“On this painful note, we passionately appeal to you, Mr. President, to use your fatherly office to advise the Delta State Government to do the needful by prioritizing human capital development, broadening appointments and empowerment, and fixing our rural infrastructure to reduce hardship,” Ukueku said.

The NDYFGG leader further said the group believed in the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda but claimed that Deltans were not sufficiently feeling its impact at the state level.

“You are our in-law and a father to the nation. We believe in your Renewed Hope Agenda, but Deltans are not feeling its impact at the state level,” he stated.

He expressed confidence that the President would consider the concerns raised in the letter and intervene in what the organisation described as the plight of residents across the state.
