Prepaid meters
Some customers of the Enugu Electricity Distribution (EEDC) have expressed joy and satisfaction over the installation of smart prepaid meters in their premises in the ongoing Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme.
Mr. Uchendu David, a resident of Plot 21, Dr. Godwin Udibe Street, Fidelity Estate, Enugu, whose single phase meter was successfully installed along with other three meters installed for other apartments, expressed excitement over the development.
“I feel a bit excited because I have been paying estimated bills, but with the prepaid meter we are good, and with what I’m seeing, if EEDC continues the installation this way, people will be happy.”
Uchendu applied for the meter via the online meter application platform on July 3, 2019, and made payment on August 7, 2019, having received the Demand Note, and his meter was installed two days later.
In the same vein, Mrs. Agbata Apolonia of 106 Agbani Road, Achara Layout, Enugu and Mr. Okey Ambrose of House 22, Ezike Street, New GRA, Trans Ekulu, Enugu, also had their meters installed. They expressed satisfaction on the genuineness of the process.
Speaking on progress of the ongoing scheme, the EEDC Head of Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, said the company is working closely with her two Meter Providers (Mojec International Limited and Protogy Global Services Limited), to ensure that the process is hitch free and that the positive experience already recorded is sustained.
Ezeh reiterated that the application is free of charge, both for the online application which is done through the EEDC website (www.enugudisco.com) and the hard copy application which is done at the Customer Service Unit in the 18 District Offices.
He added that payment for the meter is to be made into dedicated bank account as advised in the Demand Note, and not to any individual or group.
The Single-Phase Meter goes for N38, 841.00, while the Three Phase meter goes for N70, 409.00, all VAT inclusive
“In keeping to MAP regulation, customers are to be metered within 10 working days after payment has been made, and from the testimonies of our customers, they were metered in less than four working days after payment,” Ezeh said.
