Governor Obaseki and Ex-Governor Oshiomhole
Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the weekend cleared the air over the reported quarrel between him and, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, incumbent National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fielding questions from newsmen during an interactive session in Lagos, Governor Obaseki dismissed the reports, explaining that he was not at war with his immediate past predecessor over the control of the state or any other issues.
“He is far away in Abuja and believed what some (aggrieved) people were telling him, but now he knows the truth,” said Obaseki, who confirmed recent reconciliatory meetings held in Abuja.
Corroborating the Governor’s claim, Edo State APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua, blamed the crisis on false stories told Oshiomhole by ‘third parties’ in the state who are unhappy that Obaseki prefers to use public funds to work for the state instead of sharing part of it with them.
His words: “There are no fundamental issues between the national Chairman and the Governor. There are only third parties who are trying to take advantage of the situation but with the issues (reconciliatory meetings) of the past three weeks, we have gone past that stage.”
Also speaking, Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, stressed that the Governor is focused on providing good governance to the people of Edo State.
