2015: Mad rush for APGA forms in Anambra

A total of 22 aspirants belonging to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have picked forms for various political offices in Anambra State for the 2015 general elections in the state.

The state party chairman, Chief Mike Kwentor, disclosed this in Awka yesterday while receiving Chief Ernest Elochukwu, a former President of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, who was at APGA State Secretraiat to pick his nomination form.

The party began the sale of forms for House of Assembly and House of Representatives elections on Tuesday. Elochukwu seeks to contest the Nnewi North/South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency seat.

Kwentor described the number of aspirants who had already purchased forms as being unprecedented. He said that the party had been growing stronger despite the exit of former governor Peter Obi to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his words, “Peter Obi walked into APGA alone and left alone so the party is even stronger than he met it.”

Kwentor assured the party faithful that the party will hold free and fair primaries after the sale of nomination forms which would end on November 4.

He noted that out of the 22 aspirants who bought forms so far, 20 were for the State House of Assembly and two for the Federal House of Representatives, adding that nobody had picked form for the senatorial election.

Elochukwu, shortly after picking his form, said that his decision to contest for the House of Representatives seat was informed by the absence of proper representation of the people.

He promised to sponsor beneficial laws for his constituents and the entire country at large if he emerges the APGA candidate and eventually wins the election.
