Development expert, Dr David Kieghe
A London-based development and management consultant, researcher and activist, Dr. David Kieghe, has joined the list of experts writing for News Express. His column, THE OPPORTUNITY, debuts in your favourite online daily tomorrow, Monday, July 22, 2019.
The column will, at the first instance, appear twice a month on the first and third Monday of each month and later go weekly.
On what to expect from the column, Dr. Kieghe, who hails from Rivers State in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, said: “We face new and complex challenges from within and outside of Nigeria. The opportunity to think and act differently is now. Nigeria needs to build appropriate and stronger support structures and systems, reduce constraints, grow local and inclusive economies, and accelerate human development.
“This column contributes new ideas towards improving country performance, required to overcome current and future challenges and threats. The big ideas shared in this column promotes power relations in Nigeria (a very diverse country) as the most consequential outcome of our democratic experience. A much fairer power relations would empower every Nigerian to hold ourselves accountable and to give every one of us a chance to achieve our potential. It will make our country better and stronger at home, and respected abroad. It is the right way.”
Dr. Kieghe is also the author of “National Ambition Reconstructing Nigeria”, a book that takes a much more strategic view on corruption and economic development in Nigeria.
His insights on national, regional and global issues are the result of rigorously interrogating and engaging the evidence base on the facts as they apply and are appropriate to the context. He simplifies otherwise complex subjects to the understanding of the average and curious reader. David is motivated and inspired to contribute towards the greater good, and to be an active part of something greater than himself. He invites his readers to do the same.
Keep a date tomorrow afternoon as he debuts with the engaging piece entitled Nigeria: What a country, what a world, what an opportunity.
