The Institute of Certified Communicators (ICCOM) and Diction in English Assessment Ltd have come together to give interested candidates the opportunity to get a Spoken English Certification Assessment (SECA) Level 1 Certification.
“Students and pupils in terminal classes offering the Diction-in-English course can now acquire Spoken English Certification.
“Speech facilitators and diction instructors can now get certified,” the two partnering organisations said Wednesday in a statement in Lagos.
They listed benefits of Spoken English Certification to include the following:
•Positions students for sitting language tests both within and outside Nigeria.
•Boosts student’s confidence and increases social capital.
•Boosts student’s CV as they keep the certification for life.
•Positions students for next level assessment on speech and presentation.
•Gives credibility to speech facilitators and diction instructors

•On Membership page, find two forms – Individual and School. Fill the form.

ASSESSMENT DATE AND CERTIFICATION
The statement disclosed that assessment will hold all day on Saturday, November 16, 2019 and results will be posted immediately after the examination. “All candidates that score 60 points and above will be certified. Candidates that score 90 points and above will be awarded a special gold embossed Distinction Certificate,” the statement said.
On those for whom the programme is meant, the statement said: “Do you have spoken English skills? Do you want to authenticate your spoken English claims? And do you wish to be certified by the one and only government approved body charged with the responsibility to certify communicators? If your answers are yes, then, this assessment is for you.”
It disclosed that the assessment will test candidate’s competency in four core areas: Spelling, Pronunciation, Reading and Listening.
“Registration is ongoing,” the statement said, adding: “There will be 100 questions in all. The examination will be hosted online at www. iccom.ng. Total time allocated for answering each question is 30 seconds. Assess sample examination questions on www.iccom.ng.”
