A cross section of beneficiaries of EKEDC School Feeding Programme
In its bid to realise its corporate social responsibility, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has partnered with a non-government organisation on school feeding programme for pupils.
The programme, tagged ‘Food for Thought’, is expected to contribute to the improvement of the well-being of young talents in the areas of coverage of the company.
Eko DISCo, Nigeria’s biggest electricity distribution company, in collaboration with the NGO, commenced the first phase of the programme on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.
The programme has been set to run for a period of one year at the Anglican Girls Seminary Primary School located on Broad Street, Lagos Island.
The company’s Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi, led the team to the school. Also present was ‘Food for Thought’ project organisers led by Ms Mary Dinah.
Engr. Fadeyibi and officials of the NGO had lunch with the children and also engaged in fun games with them during the school’s break time. He used the opportunity to commend the school teachers for a good job of ensuring a clean school environment and quality learning standard that allows the children to interact optimally with people.
He went further to state categorically that Eko DISCo will also be giving the parents of the student a free medical checkup during the Parent/Teachers meeting, to help them know their health status and improve on it. “We don’t want these future leaders to lose any parent as they journey through education,” Fadeyibi said.
Other activities lined up by organisers of the programme include grooming of the school children; periodic etiquette talks; sports day events; and charity football match to encourage participation in and growth of female football and lots more.
Recall that the EKEDC had stated that it has a keen interest in the realisation of the targets for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as it will help the company give back to its teeming customers and further gain their confidence.
