PDP National Chairman Secondus
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on Nigeria’s security.
National Chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus, made the call while briefing reporters on Tuesday, in Abuja, on the PDP’s position on security in the country.
He condemned the murder of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti, who was killed by armed men last Friday in Ondo State.
The PDP Chairman recalled that the party had decried the level of insecurity at a press conference in April, following the killing of a British national, Faye Moone.
He said the situation, between then and now, has gone “from bad to worse”, forcing concerned patriotic leaders to voice out alarmingly.
Secondus noted some of the eminent leaders who recently challenged the Federal Government to secure the lives of the people.
He aligned himself with an open letter to President Buhari by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the concerns raised by other prominent Nigerians.
The party chairman insisted that there was incompetence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.
He, therefore, called on the President to address the issues raised by the leaders and ensure that the security of all Nigerians was guaranteed. (Channels TV)
