IYC President Oweilaemi
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has warned that a dark cloud is hovering over Nigeria which may explode in no time if the warnings of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in his Monday’s Open Letter to President Muhammadu Buhari are not heeded.
IYC President worldwide, Pereotubo Oweilaemi, in his reaction to the letter on Monday averred that all the thoughts expressed by the former president were not far from the truth.
“OBJ is not far from the truth. There is a dark cloud hovering around the country. It will explode like a time bomb.
“We don’t need a prophet to tell us that Boko Haram sect has not been defeated. The government is only celebrating vainglory of its acclaimed defeat of the sects.
“The issue of banditry and kidnapping across the country, perpetrated by the Fulani terrorists are still largely unaddressed.
“The recent assassination of the Afenifere leader’s daughter is the height of these provocative attacks.
“Only God can save Nigeria from the imminent precipice. The cloud of bloodbath is gathering momentum.
“President Buhari should listen to the voice of reason. OBJ’s letter should not be swept under the carpet,” the Ijaw youths warned.
It will be recalled that President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday in the open letter called for a national debate to discuss the debilitating security issues affecting the nation.
He bemoaned the security challenges posed by the Boko Haram terrorists and the Fulani herdsmen terrorising virtually every part of the country. (Nigerian Tribune)
