There will be a lot of back-slapping, pumping of fists and, perhaps, hailings of “gbosa! gbosa!! gbosa!!!” when speedy winger Victor Moses hits Nigeria’s pre-Africa Cup of Nations Camp in Faro, Portugal, tonight.
It will be a hail of “congratulations” for Moses, who excused himself from European champions Chelsea in a big way by scoring in his last match before jetting out to join his Super Eagles teammates to conclude preparations for the Cup of Nations holding Jan. 19 to Feb. 10 in South Africa.
Chelsea demolished hapless Southampton 5-1 in the third round of the English FA Cup to keep alive their hopes of retaining the trophy. Fleet-footed Moses accounted for the second of the goals after exchanging passes with Ashley Cole and firing home on the stroke of half-time.
Moses and Chelsea teammate John Mikel Obi have committed themselves to reporting to the Faro camp tonight – as has also Real Betis of Spain ace Nosa Igiebor.
The last set of foreign-based pros are expected to hit the Super Eagles tomorrow. They include Villarreal of Spain striker Ikechukwu Uche, who featured in the warm-up against Catalonia on Wednesday, Israel-based goalkeeper Austin Ejide and Juwon Oshaniwo.
