A former student of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, North-West Nigeria, is now in police net in connection with the rape and beheading of a girl simply identified as Hanatu, in Rafin Yashi area of Bosso town, on the outskirts of Minna, the state capital.
The beast, who goes by the name Godwin Edeko, was said to have been expelled by the institution’s authorities six years ago over an allegation of belonging to a cult group.
A report in Saturday Tribune said that Edeko lured Hanatu into his apartment and forcefully had sex with her. “He then proceeded to cut off her head with a sharp instrument before dragging the headless body into the toilet in the apartment. He allegedly concealed the blood-soaked head in a cement bag and made to carry it out of the compound,” the report said, adding.
According to the report: “Neighbours became suspicious when they saw oozing out of blood in the toilet.
“An angry mob that later gathered almost lynched the suspect, but for the intervention of a community leader who rescued him and handed him over to the police.
“The slain girl was said to be on a visit to her relations somewhere in Minna, from Katsina State; but the nature of her relationship with the murder suspect could not be ascertained as of press time.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Command, Mr. Pius Edobor, confirmed the story and confirmed that investigation is ongoing.
