Mr. Segun Showunmi, Spokesman of the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has commended the National Support for Atiku Mandate Group, assuring that the group is not standing alone.

Showunmi, who gave the commendation on Friday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Mandate Office in Abuja, equally described the group as “the voice of Nigerians”.

He said: “You have demonstrated all that is required. Therefore, I want to say to you that you are not standing alone and not without recognition. You are standing right. It is not about Atiku but about Nigeria.

“The National Support for Atiku Mandate should have the biggest commendation on any ideal and those who are standing, especially when it is no longer convenient. So, for that singular reason, the group deserves all the commendation.”

Speaking further, he said: “For everyone picture that goes out and shows you in your T-Shirt and placard, no matter the number, it is more than what half of the population of the country is doing to reclaim the mandate. It is more than what the governors of the PDP are doing to demonstrate they understand what it means to carry the flag of the party.

“It is even more than what other people are doing because whoever shows up has indicated his presence that something is not right and must be corrected.”

Showunmi maintained that every activity the group embarks upon is for a good cause, adding: “You are doing it on behalf of your character because, at the end of the day, the platform is available for champions and would-be champions.”

He further explained that the Support Group is only for those who can bravely stand up and embrace the opportunity that a platform like this gives which will soon yield positive results in the fullness of time.

He however tasked them not to relent in their efforts on the task of reclaiming the mandate, saying that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
