The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), yesterday called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the members and sponsors of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) for threatening the lives of other Nigerians. COSEYL said issuing President Muhammadu Buhari and Southern Nigeria leaders with 30 days ultimatum to approve the suspended RUGA is a security threat which calls for serious actions against those Involved.

The group went further to blame the Federal Government for initiating the RUGA settlement in the first place without proper consultation with states and other leaders. COSEYL also called on Igbos in the North to defend themselves against any attack and further warned CNG that nobody has monopoly of violence stressing that Nigeria does not belong to any tribe.

The group in a statement by its President General, Chief Goodluck Egwu Ibem, called on the northern leaders and security agencies to arrest members of CNG. “We condemn in totality the 30 days ultimatum given by the so called Coalition of Northern Groups to the federal government to implement Ruga settlement in Nigeria. Such statement is an insult on Nigerians and must not go unpunished.

“In the first place, it is very disheartening to note that when government of other nations are talking about technological innovations and inventions and massive industrialization, the Nigerian government came up with Ruga settlement for Fulani herdsmen which is a personal business of few groups of persons which doesn’t have any impact on the economy.

“The only purpose of RUGA is just to grab land from land owners in other parts of the country and give to Fulani herdsmen in other to facilitate the Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda of the FG and there’s no crime in saying I can’t give.

“For the so called CNG to give the FG an ultimatum of 30 days to implement Ruga settlement is embarrassing and idiotic. Are they now the National Assembly or a competent court with jurisdiction on such matters to give ultimatum. This is foolishness. “We call on northern leaders and security agencies to arrest members of CNG and sponsors of this misfits called CNG.

“If the northern leaders do not disown them and they security agencies fail to arrest them, we will know that their leaders and some persons within FG are sponsoring them to make such threat and unguarded statements to achieve an aim.” (New Telegraph)
