Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada (retd.) has adapted well to life as a patient.

He was all smiles this afternoon as he arrived for medical check-up at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, where he underwent surgery exactly a week ago.

A photograph of the governor (seen here) released minutes ago by his media tem shows him in a jovial mood as disembarked from the car that brought him and walked on crutches into the hospital.

News Express reports that Wada was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday night, Jan. 1, and relocated to an undisclosed private house in a bid to ward off visitors. The governor was moved to Cedarcrest Hospital after initial treatment at the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, following injuries he sustained in a December 28 car accident which claimed the life of his aide-de-camp (ADC), Assistant Superintendent of Police, Idris Mohammed.

The governor, who decided against receiving treatment abroad, had been receiving a large volume of sympathisers in the hospital, among them President Goodluck Jonathan, who spent about 15 minutes with the governor in his ward on Monday.

Speaking during Jonathan’s visit, Dr. Felix Ogedegbe, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Cedarcrest Hospital, had disclosed that Governor Wada would be discharged “in a few days.”

The accident occurred at Emi Woro Village along Ajaokuta-Lokoja Road, while the governor was returning to Lokoja from his hometown, Ayingba, where he had attended the 2012 Igala summit.
