The sun is about to shine again on out-of-favour Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie, as he has been lined up for a possible club switch during this month’s transfer widow of the English Premiership.
Odemwingie (see photo), who was devastated after being left out of the Nigerian team to the 2013 Africa Cup of nations in South Africa, is wanted by Newcastle United as a possible replacement for striker Demba Ba, who will likely join Chelsea.
“Talks were on-going last night and Toon boss Pardew is hoping to land Odemwingie for £3 million,” reports The Sun of London. The amount is about 750 million naira.
The Nigerian, 31, has 18 months left on his deal and wants to quit Wset Bromwich Albion.
He almost moved to the cash-rich Qatari League last summer but the Baggies were unable to strike a deal.
“Albion chiefs are keen to do business now rather than see his value plummet as he nears the end of his contract,” according to The Sun.
Odemwingie, who is one of West Brom’s best strikers, also has good news from Super Eagles gaffer Stephen Keshi, who yesterday in Spain hinted that he might be recalled for the World Cup qualifiers in March after apologising for his Twitter rant of last week.
