Anambra Police Commissioner Mustapha Dandaura
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State (CP) Mustapha Dandaura, has ordered with immediate effect, the arrest of any commercial vehicle driver especially shuttle buses with tinted glasses in the state.
Also affected by the order are keke drivers operating with thick curtains that shield occupants from view.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed said that such vehicles/keke would be impounded by the Police.
The statement reads in part: “Information at the disposal of Anambra State Police Command revealed that criminals are using Commercial vehicles especially shuttle buses and KEKE NAPEP with tinted glasses and thick curtains (which shield their interiors) in Awka, Onitsha, Ekwulobia, Oko and other densely populated areas to rob unsuspecting passengers and dispossess them of their valuables without being detected by law enforcement agencies.
“In view of this, the Commissioner of Police CP Mustapha Dandaura, the Command has commenced intensive stop and search Operations to enforce this order.”
The Command enjoined residents of such areas to avoid patronising tinted buses/keke with curtains in order not to fall victim of one chance syndicates.
