Late Afenifere leader, Pa Fasoranti
By OLUWATOSIN OJO
The Ondo State Government has constituted a 13-member committee to ensure a befitting state burial for the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the elder statesman, who passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the age of 100, contributed immensely to the development of Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Akure by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ebenezer Adeniyan.
The statement reiterated that the late nonagenarian deserved to be celebrated, even in death, for his life of service, wisdom, and selfless leadership.
According to the statement, the burial committee is chaired by Dr Kayode Ajulo while Apostle Eniola Olushola serves as the secretary.
“Other members of the committee include Hon. Gbenga Fasua, Mr Gbenga Atiba, Mrs Kosemani Kolawole, Rt. Hon Bakkita Bello, Hon Idowu Otetubi, and Erelu Modupe Martins.
“Also on the committee are Mr Ebenezer Adeniyan, Mr George Asonja, Mr Muyiwa Ogunyemi, Hon Stephen Abitogun, and Mr Adetunji Gbenga.
“The committee is mandated to work closely with the Fasoranti family and the leadership of Afenifere to organise a dignified and befitting burial programme for the departed national icon,” it said. (NAN)
