Reports that Taraba State governor, Danbaba Suntai, is brain dead as a result of his crash of last Oct. 25 while flying a private aircraft may have been fabricated.
In direct contradiction of the reports first published by the US-based Sahara Reporters, pictures have surfaced showing the governor cuddling one of the twin babies delivered about three weeks ago by his wife, Hauwa.
Dressed in a shirt and suit but without wearing a tie, Suntai is seen at a dinner with his wife, who carries one of the twins. Enjoying the dinner with the couple is Hon. Victor Bala Kona, Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State.
Governor Suntai is seen looking expressionless in two of the photos but manages to force a smile in the third.
The message conveyed by the photos, published by the blog Infrastructure Newsng, is that of a man who is recovering but still has a long way to go before he could be discharged. This is consistent with the claims of the Taraba State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Emma Bello, that the governor is making remarkable progress at the German hospital to which he was flown after an aircraft he piloted crashed in Yola, Adamawa State.
Two of the governor’s aides who were involved in the crash were also treated in Germany and have since returned to Nigeria following their discharge.
