Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has unfolded a three-point agenda which he would implement if voted Nigeria’s President during the February 2015 election.
In a message entitled ‘Why I Want To Serve’ posted on his official website, Atiku, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) identified security, unemployment and education as three key areas that would attract his attention if he becomes President.
On security, he wrote: “Do we feel safer today in Nigeria than we did 10 years ago? Our number one priority is keeping Nigeria and Nigerians secure.”
On unemployment: “My motto is Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Our young people needs jobs! Having created over 50,000 private sector jobs, I hope to bring this experience to serve Nigeria.”
And on education: “Education is key in the development of any nation. My experience building world class schools, from primary to university levels shows that we can do it here!”
News Express reports that Atiku, who decamped from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after failing to get the party’s presidential ticket for the 2011 ballot, yesterday became the first APC member to publicly declare his presidential ambition during a ceremony at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
