Accident: NO NEED TO FLY GOVERNOR WADA ABROAD for treatment —DOCTOR

There is no need to fly Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State abroad for treatment following yesterday’s road accident in which he fractured his leg.

This is the opinion of the medical doctor who treated him before his transfer to the National Hospital in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Felix Ogedegbe, Medical Director of Cedarcrest Hospital, confirmed that Governor Wada was received at the hospital at about 8:00 p.m. yesterday in a stable condition.

He confirmed that the governor had a fracture in his thigh bone but assured that it had been fixed. Governor Wada, according to Dr. Ogedegbe, “did not suffer any life threatening injuries and that there will be no need to fly him abroad for further treatment, though his recuperation period is yet to be ascertained.”

The governor had been initially rushed to the Emergency Ward of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja after the accident, which occurred on the Lokoja – Ajaokuta expressway, around Salem University, before being moved to Cedarcrest Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a broken bone.

As earlier reported by News Express and some other media outlets, Governor Wada’s family is considering flying him abroad “for better medical attention” as is the custom among to Nigerian government functionaries.
