My father wouldn’t have supported anybody else than Jonathan —Emeka Ojukwu Jnr

Son of the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Eze-Igbo Gburugburu), Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Jnr, has said that the choice of President Goodluck Jonathan by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as their presidential candidate, simply re-echoes the wishes of his late father.

He made the statement in a chat with News Express in Awka while reacting to the rally held recently by APGA, to support President Jonathan's second term bid. He said that the president has done well for the Igbo people as well as the country at large, especially under the circumstances.

“The situation against him is quite unprecedented, but in spite of that, we are happy with him and his transformation agenda and see him as somebody who would take the country further. If my father was to be alive, he would have backed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in 2015.”

According to him, he would not have supported APGA’s choice of Jonathan, if he had any doubt that his father would not have supported him, noting that all elective positions will be contested for by APGA, with total victory expected from all quarters, especially in Anambra and other South-East states.

While stressing the need for Ndigbo to unite and speak with one voice, the APGA Board of Trustees (BoT) member noted that the bargaining power of the Igbo as well as their ability to go to national table and discuss, lies in their unity.

Emeka-Ojukwu Jnr who doubles as the sole Administrator of Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, stressed that the unity of the Igbo will make them important in the country, and guarantees that anybody that wants to contest any elective position in the country will solicit their support.
