Heartland Professionals Network (HPN), a think-tank of Imo State professionals, has emerged with a promise to support the socio-cultural, economic, educational, and industrial advancement of the state.
HPN, according to the Co-ordinator, Prof. Chijioke Nwaozuzu, “is a group of distinguished Imo Professionals who are persuaded by a civic responsibility to support the creation of a roadmap for the sociocultural, economic, educational, and industrial development of Imo State. The group intends to initiate activities that will galvanise Private Sector efforts in the areas of human capital development, agriculture, infrastructure, industrialisation, public sector reforms and social re-engineering.”
On the membership of the group, Prof. Nwaozuzu explained that is comprised of individuals who have distinguished themselves in both the public and private sectors.
He said in a statement that HPN hopes to accomplish its objectives “by leveraging on members’ experiences to produce a blueprint which can serve as a roadmap to move Imo state from the backwaters to the forefront of national development.”
He explained that “the group’s modus operandi is advisory in nature, and such advice is intended to be supplied to any organisation gratis.”
Prof. Nwaozuzu told News Express that is expected to be inaugurated during the 2019 Easter weekend.
“HPN,” he said, “plans to organise conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia to educate and inform Imo Citizens on wealth creation, and civic responsibility.
“HPN is committed to supporting the efforts of the government of the day in Imo State to deliver good governance to Ndi Imo. Our focus on the areas of healthcare, education, agriculture, manufacturing and infrastructural development is backed by an unprecedented network of experts, technocrats, academics and industry leaders that are domicile in the country and the Diaspora.”
Prof. Nwaozuzu made it clear that HPN is not a political organisation. “Membership of HPN is open to Imo citizens who have distinguished themselves in their area of endeavor and are committed to the aims and objectives of Heartland Professionals Network,” he stated.
