Oyo governor-elect, Seyi Makinde
The Oyo State Governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has disclosed that he would run an all-inclusive government, declaring that people who did not vote for him in the last gubernatorial election would not be left out of his government. He made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen yesterday during a thanksgiving service he attended at The Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo state.
Makinde, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate that won against the All Progressives Congress’ candidate in the March 9 election said that his administration would rely on the wisdom of God as everybody would benefit from the new government irrespective of religious or political affiliations. He said: “I thank God because my victory was by the mercy of God, although people use to say that nobody can come to government without sacrificing something. Electioneering is over and we need to deliver to the people who have given us their mandate.”
Makinde, however, urged the people of the state to cast away the spirit of partisanship but cooperate with the new administration for the development of Oyo state. In his sermon, Provost of The Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, the Very Reverend Andrew Adebiyi read from the Book of 1st King, Chapter 12, verse 7, saying that Oyo people and all souls in the state were precious before God, urging the governor-elect to always cater for them.
He commended the governor-elect for visiting the incumbent governor, Abiola Ajimobi in his office, noting that “this has shown that Engineer Seyi Makinde is not practising politics of bitterness. Do not miss hours of worship. Don’t let government business hinder you from hours of worship in the house of God.”
