Minister of Police Affairs, Abdul Jelil Adesina, has commended former IGP and incumbent Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Sir Mike Okiro, and Acting IGP Suleiman Abba for not procrastinating in the promotion of police officers who are due for promotion.
He made the commendation today during the decoration of newly promoted 8 DIGs and 19 AIGs by the PSC.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, the minister said: “I thank the Chairman of Police Service Commission and the IG for promoting officers as at when due.” He charged the officers to ensure that they justify the promotion. “To whom more is given more is expected,” he said.
In his speech, Abba thanked President Goodluck Jonathan and Okiro for the promotion of the officers “at a time the country is facing security challenges,” Continuing, he said: “I say thank you to the Police Service Commission for showing sensitivity towards the security challenges of the country for this promotion. I assure that the NPF will continue to perform its statutory obligation by cooperating with other security agencies.”
The Acting IGP urged the new officers to ensure that the 2015 elections are conducted in a conducive and peaceful atmosphere.
Responding on behalf of others, DIG Dan’azumi Jos Doma said: “We assured you IG of our maximum cooperation to move the police forward.”
DIG Solomon Arase and AIG Joseph Mbu stole the show during the decoration, being greeted with loud ovation when they were called out for decoration.
