Arrangements have been concluded by the Police Service Commission (PSC) to promote 28 deserving Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP), News Express can report this afternoon.
“The promotions will be announced soon,” an impeccable source said.
News Express learnt that one of those to be so promoted is DCP Emmanuel Ojukwu, who yesterday was announced as the new Force Public Relations Officer, taking over from ACP Frank Mba. Others on the list could not be confirmed.
Just this morning, 27 senior officers promoted earlier this week by the Sir Mike Mbama Okiro-led PSC were decorated with their mew ranks at Louis Edet House, Abuja, Headquarters of the Nigeria Police. They comprised the eight new Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) announced on Tuesday and the 19 new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) announced on Wednesday.
In announcing the promotions, PSC Spokesman Ferdinand Ekpe had explained that they “became necessary to fill the vacancies created by recent retirements/promotions in Force and to re-invigorate and reposition Zonal and other Commands headed by AIGS, to help tackle the country’s current security challenges.”
