National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, has hailed the move by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve the country’s electoral process through the issuance of permanent voters’ card.

Umeh, who spoke at his country home Agulu-Uzoigbo in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, noted that the commission had improved greatly, adding that the sanctity of people’s votes had been restored.

The APGA National Chairman said: “With the recent electoral successes in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun states, the 2015 general elections in the country would be hitch free.”

In a similar song of praise, for INEC, the State Leader of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, commended the timely response of INEC officials at the different wards designated for collection of the permanent voter’s card during the exercise held in the state from August 15 to 19.

Ezeemo, who spoke in his Umuchu Community in Aguata Local Government Area, pointed out that INEC officials were always out on time, unlike what obtained in the past.

He said that if the officials of commission continue with the spirit showed during the revalidation exercise, restoring the electorate’s confidence in them would be easier.

The PPA leader enjoined those who missed the exercise to visit INEC offices in their local government areas for their own re-validation exercise.

He reminded the electorate that the re-validation of their voter’s card is very vital in giving them the power to choose who would govern or represent them at the various levels of governance.

Said Ezeemo: “Our voter’s card is our voice and power to elect credible leaders; it is our civil responsibility and is expected that one day, the sacrifices made for preparation to elect better and quality leaders for four years will not be too much of a sacrifice to make.”

Ezeemo also commended the Federal Government for allowing INEC to discharge its duty credibly.

On his part, Mr. Ebele Ejiofor, member representing Anaocha 1 Constituency at the State House of Assembly, also praised the efforts of INEC in ensuring a credible electoral process and enthroning true democracy.
