President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the first two states officially declared by the …, narrowly beating his main challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In Osun State with 347,634 votes as against 337,377votes by the latter.
Buhari had earlier being declared winner of Ekiti with 219,231 votes as against 154,032 votes scored by Atiku.
The collation of results started late this morning at the National Collation Centre located at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, declared open on Sunday night by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu.
The collation of results was originally scheduled to start earlier yesterday but Prof. Yakubu explained that the process could not begin as none of the State Collation Officers had arrived Abuja with the results of the election.
In attendance are agents of parties that fielded presidential candidates, local and international observers and the global media, among other stakeholders.
