The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, February 25, for the commencement of the collation of results of the 2019 presidential election held across the country yesterday, Saturday.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, made the announcement around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday while declaring open the National Collation Centre located at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The collation of results was originally scheduled to start earlier today but Prof. Yakubu explained that the process could not begin as none of the State Collation Officers had arrived Abuja with the results of the election.
The INEC Chairman assured that the collation would be in the open and transparent. He reeled out 13 rules governing the collation process, then announced that “the collation will start by 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, 25th February, 2019” before wishing all those in attendance good night.
The event was attended by agents of parties that fielded presidential candidates, local and international observers and the global media, among other stakeholders.
