Nigeria policemen
The police at guarding Polling Unit 009, Karu near Abuja, have arrested nine suspected hoodlums who were found with knives while the Presidential and National Assembly elections were in progress on Saturday.
One of the security personnel at the unit, who preferred anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that they were alerted by some eligible voters that the boys were planning to obstruct the process.
According to him, one of the boys had already brought out his knife with the intention of fighting and intimidating voters.
He noted that the boys were quickly arrested and presently under the custody of security personnel.
Mr Josiah Galadima, a voter, lauded the efforts of the security personnel for thwarting the plans of the hoodlums claiming or alleging that their intention was to snatch ballot boxes.
However, Mr Emmanuel Adekoya says “I am not deterred, no matter the security threat posed by hoodlums; I must exercise my franchise” (NAN)
