Senator Shehu Sani
Senator Shehu Sani has raised an alarm on the alleged activities of armed bandits in some parts of Kaduna and three other states.
The other states highlighted by the senator who represents Kaduna Central district at the National Assembly are Zamfara, Katsina, and Niger.
He took to his Facebook page on Sunday to condemn the activities of the criminals who he said were deciding when to carry out attack on innocent citizens.
“In parts of Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina and Niger states, armed bandits decide on who and when to kill or kidnap,” Senator Sani alleged.
He added, “People helplessly sell their farm produce, farms and even village homes to pay ransom. They live at the mercy of their killers that have grown and thrive beyond the reach of the state.”
According to the lawmaker, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) went on a temporary strike recently to protest the killing of their colleagues along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road in the northern part of the country.
He condemned the situation where “mourning funeral services have become a daily routine” and kidnappings have continued to take place in the society.
“In all of these killing fields where the government has failed to provide adequate security, there are more than enough campaign billboards and posters,” Senator Sani noted.
Ahead of the coming general elections, the lawmaker stressed that there were moments in history that victims of attack would be opportune to decide their fate.
