The Nigerian Army has denied claims by Amnesty International that 60 persons were killed in an attack by Boko Haram Insurgents on Monday.
The human rights organization had in the statement on Friday accused army troops of abandoning their deployment, a day before the alleged attack, giving room for the insurgents to attack.
The army, however, denied the claims.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, noted that the troops did not abandon their deployment as there was no such attack on the said day.
Nwachukwu stated, however, that Rann rather experienced an unfortunate attack on January 14 and in that encounter, the troops proved neutralized two suicide bombers and three Boko Haram foot soldiers.
