Anambra State Governor, Chief Willy Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) this evening once more confirmed his supremacy over his main rivals, Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The retired bank chief was confirmed the validly elected governor of Anambra State by the Court of Appeal sitting presided over by Hon. Justice Garba Lawal of the Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal.
He had been dragged before the appellate court by Comrade Nwoye and Senator Ngige, who came second and third respectively in the November 2013 governorship election.
The duo had proceeded to the appeal tribunal after losing at the Anambra State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal presided over by Hon. Justice Ishaq Bello, which on June 4 in Awka upheld the victory of Chief Obiano, declaring that he was validly elected as the November 16, 17 and 30 governorship ballot complied substantially with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution.
Just like the original tribunal, the appeal court minutes ago struck out the cases of Nwoye and Ngige for lack of merit.
Obiano was sworn-in as Anambra Governor on March 17 and recently marked his first hundred days in office with fanfare.
News Express had this morning exclusively revealed that the appeal tribunal would deliver its judgment today.
