Chief Ebenezer Babatope
Former National Secretary of the PDP, Chief Ebenezer Babatope has stated that Yoruba leaders have endorsed the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the next president come 2019.
The PDP Chieftain, while stating this in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust on sundry issues on the forthcoming 2019 election and the chances of the PDP, disclosed that a colloquium held in Lagos by the South-West PDP, which brought together Yoruba leaders endorsed Atiku.
In his words: “We have taken a position to support Atiku because Atiku has come out clearly to endorse the programme of the Yoruba people.
“The PDP is united, we did a colloquium that brought the Yoruba leaders together and we expressed our wish that we want Atiku to be president and we have told the Yoruba people to go and vote for Atiku and they should not vote for any other person.
“Atiku Abubakar has already given his undertaking that he is going to support restructuring, a restructuring that will not upset the balance of the federalism that we operate; a restructuring that will give the people of Nigeria a fair hearing and a clear chart.
We have taken a position to support Atiku because Atiku has come out clearly to endorse the programme of the Yoruba people”, he added.
