Bauchi guber candidates
Governorship candidates numbering 22 out of the 28 candidates of political parties in Bauchi State have signed a pact for the peaceful conduct ahead of the gubernatorial election in March 2019.
The signature to the peace accord document was signed by the candidates on Saturday at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Bauchi.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, and other key players
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Mohammed, who spoke on behalf of all the candidates, said the candidates have jointly pledged to play by the rules laid down by INEC.
“This election is not a do-or-die affair, we want the government of the day to know that we are all servants of the people. We have pledged to go by the rules.
“We will make sure that the rules and regulations established to conduct elections are followed strictly. We will be law-abiding and at the end of the day, we will have a peaceful; election.”
Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, also at the event promised to work with security agencies to ensure that peace continues to reign in the state.
