Oyo APA governorship candidate, Tolulope Adedoyin
The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Peoples Alliance Party (APA), Deacon Tolulope Adedoyin, has accused the Oyo State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) of working and campaigning for the All Progressive Party (APC) candidates across the 33 local government areas of the state and also defacing his party’s offices with APC candidates’ posters.
This was contained in a press statement issued and made available by the acting Chairman of the party, Elder Busari Agbolade, to newsmen in Ibadan after an emergency meeting with officials of the party in the state at their party secretariat in Onireke, Ibadan.
According to Deacon Adedoyin, “We all know that Oyo NURTW is now a political arm of the APC. They have collapsed their structures into the party. This is dangerous and perilous for the successful conduct of the forthcoming governorship election in the state. This is a grievous development and a show of ridicule.”
The party also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of entering into a contractual agreement with the NURTW for the union to transport election materials to all the local government in the state. This, the party observed, “will be a grievous mistake if INEC goes ahead to use members of the NURTW to transport the election materials across the state.”
The APA governorship candidate therefore advised the electoral umpire in the state not to use NURTW again for transportation of election materials as a result of their robust ties and bonds with the ruling APC in the state.
