Rev Fr Mbaka
Catholic priest and Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries, Father Ejike Mbaka, has apologized to the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, for the embarrassing comments made by the clergy against the latter’s political ambition and his inability to donate money to the church at the bazaar ceremony.
In the 5-minute video, Mbaka stated that it was not his intention to embarrass the and vice presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 presidential election and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP.
While addressing his congregants, Mbaka said: “I wish to apologise humbly, to the former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, who came here on Sunday for Bazaar.
“In any way, shape or form my utterances or actions (at) that Bazaar induced, initiated or prompted derogatory remarks, criticisms, unhealthy attacks to his personality, I don’t intend any of these.
“All I said on that day, I never meant to insult him or bring his political career down. My intention was simply to support the work of God.
“If my actions exhibited misdemeanour, or any unhealthy attitude that provoked even himself, and all these who love him, that brought about all these verbal attacks, I am asking whoever is, or will be hurt to please, please and please forgive me.
“Henceforth, I would equally encourage you Adorants to keep focus on Christ when we worship here. And I ask you to cease fire; stop fighting back.”
It would be recalled that Mbaka had, while hosting Obi at the Church’s bazaar, openly told him that his political ambition of winning the 2019 presidential election would end in shame as he had not donated to the church’s work.
The video of the comments consequently went viral, drawing criticism from various quarters about the Priest’s comments and fund-raising style.
