The presidential candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Matthias Baba Isado, has dropped his ambition but has decided to throw weight behind and further mobilise support for the presidential aspirant of People’s Trust (PT), Gbenga Hashim Olawepo.

Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday in Abuja, the ADP candidate stressed that there was a need to set a new milestone for the formation of a new Nigeria, a reason which birthed his decision.

According to him, “At this critical point in our nation, we are not looking for politicians, but statesmen that would yield themselves to the national interest. I have made consultations before now and it’s time to forge ahead.

“I believe it is not possible for one to become a president without involving other people.”

While lamenting that the country is on life support, he lamented that Nigeria has never had leaders who have abilities to transform the country. He added: “We are looking beyond our selfish interest and focusing on national interest. This is the reason why I am here. It is about the desire to serve people.”

Speaking further, Isado said he dropped his ambition having observed that there are clear similarities with that of Olawepo. He said: “I have spoken to Gbenga on this mission many times and I have seen the similarities we share. So, I feel I should not pursue my agenda but to collaborate (with him).

“We have become poverty capital. This is not the time to play politics but statesmanship. We are setting a new agenda for the country. We need to build a new country. This is not the time to be divided but remain united on a common vision. Olawepo has the tenacity and audacity to accomplish the mission. It is achievable.

“I submit my dreams, desire and hope to Olawepo. I submit every single structure I have to work together with him. I am putting my vision down for him to build a country for the next generation.”

Isado also called on several young people to see how much they can sacrifice their drive and put heads together to make everyone a president in this nation as there are different positions to fill in government.

He equally called on Olawepo to further reach out to the youths and get a good number of people that believe in the project to work for the party.

Reacting on the general notion that there is no other party that can tackle the two giant parties; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he quipped that the belief should be dismissed, saying that “there is a better and credible candidate in Olawepo.”

Isado claimed that the Adult, where he is coming from, has a lot of followers across the 36 states and existing strong influence on the social media networks. He also promised that a lot of structures in the ADP would support Olawepo.

Responding, Olawepo expressed gratitude to Isado, assuring that he (Olawepo) is committed to bringing everybody to the table to have a better Nigeria.

Olawepo also maintained that about 20 political parties have signed up to join him for the movement but did not disclose their names.

“Nigeria is destined to be a great country and things that have never happened positively will begin to happen if I become the president of this nation,” Olawepo promised.

He restated that his commitment towards the dream of turning Nigeria to a 4 trillion-dollar economy will be achieved. According to him, “Nigeria will be great again. The dream of restoration within 5 years is achievable. The dream of 4trillion dollar economy is equally achievable. We will work very hard to achieve this.”

Olawepo noted that electorates across the nation are identifying and getting engaged with the party, adding that reports from analysts are encouraging too.
