A father has murdered his nine-month old daughter in Tse-Agberagba community in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State saying that he was obeying God’s directive.

According to Daily Trust, the fresh incident happened early hours of Wednesday, barely three weeks after a housewife allegedly killed her husband, three children and herself in Makurdi metropolis.

It was learnt that the father, John Depuun, had forcefully snatched his infant daughter from the mother on that fateful day and headed straight to a bush in Mbangur, Tse-Agberagba, where he allegedly offered the baby as a ‘sacrifice’ to God.

The locals of the community said that man confessed to have killed his child in obedience to God’s command and that no one should condemn him for doing so as the infant was his and not anyone else’s baby.

Some villagers however alleged that the man maybe mentally unstable but that hasn’t been confirmed at the time of this report.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue command, Moses Joel Yamu, has confirmed the incident, adding that the man has been arrested and investigation is ongoing.

Yamu said other details would unfold soon as the suspect arrives police headquarters in Makurdi.
