Abia APGA guber candidate, Alex Otti
The swift intervention of Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, which is expected to midwife the reconstruction of the fire ravaged ancient Nkwo-Ngwa, situated along Obohia road, Aba, Abia State, has been lauded by the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Eze (Barr) Ishmael Ifeanyichukwu Nnakwue, and residents of the area.
Dr Otti, who is the Abia State Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2019 general elections, on Wednesday made the promise while addressing the traders that thronged to receive him during an unscheduled visit to commiserate with them and offer assistance to the victims following the huge losses incurred as a result of the recent inferno that gutted the famous market.
The former GMD/CEO of Diamond Bank, who lamented the dilapidated condition of the market occasioned by “government negligence and ineptitude”, however, directed the member representing Aba South State Constituency, Hon. Abraham Oba, to discuss and agree with the leadership of the market to ensure speedy reconstruction of the market.
While also playing host to Dr. Otti and his entourage, that also visited the traditional ruler of the urban community, the legal practitioner-turned-monarch extolled the virtues of the APGA governorship candidate, whom he described as a blessing to Ndi Abia.
The monarch further applauded Dr. Otti’s magnanimity and quick intervention towards alleviating the sufferings of the affected traders whose shops and wares were gutted by the inferno.
The traditional ruler lamented the deplorable condition of the Obohia road and its environs, urging Dr. Otti to prioritise the reconstruction of the road when he wins the forthcoming governorship election in Abia.
Some of the residents and traders who spoke to journalists described Dr. Otti as a man religiously kind-hearted with capacity and competence needed to drive the transformation and change the trajectory of Abia. Many of them promised to vote Dr. Otti and APGA as well as ensure that the votes are not tampered again by the ‘known’ enemies of the state.
The APGA Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. Eme Uche, also in Dr. Otti’s entourage, in conjunction with the wife of his principal, Lolo Otti, announced the donation of drugs and disinfectants worth N150,000 as their contribution towards curbing the hazardous epidemic hitting mostly the children as a result of poor sanitary and environmental conditions of the area.
Those that accompanied Dr. Otti on the visit included Chief Chris Nkwonta, Abia South Senatorial Candidate of APGA; Hon. Abraham Oba, member representing Aba South State Constituency, who is also seeking re-election; Hon. Destiny Nwagwu, the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Aba Central; and Hon. Obinna Ichita, the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Aba North.
Others were Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa, a media consultant and APGA stalwart from Obingwa; Chidera Etonyeaku, APGA stalwart in Aba North and Obinwa; Engr. Prince Obia, the party’s House of Assembly aspirant for Aba Central and stalwart from Obingwa; Hon. Ikechukwu Nwankwo, the party’s stalwart from Ukwa West; and other notable leaders of APGA across Abia State.
