PDP Presidential candidate Atiku and running mate, Peter obi
The Atiku/Obi Advocacy Group has flayed President Muhammadu Buhari for saying, “Let anybody lead this country, not PDP”.
In a statement issued by Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, the president was quoted to have said “let anybody lead this country, but not PDP” at a meeting with some South-east leaders at the state house on Friday.
The group described the statement as despotic and totalitarian.
“The Atiku/Obi Advocacy Group views with dismay the statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari that ‘Let anybody lead this country, not PDP’. The statement has a despotic nuance and it is very suggestive,” the group said in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesman, Samuel Odion.
“What could the president be implying by this? Is this statement a forecast of what will happen when the APC suffers defeat in the 2019 presidential election? The president should be reminded that he was handed over power without any form of threat.
“Our democracy cannot be nurtured with threats. Temperance in utterance is required of anyone in the very sensitive position of president. We urge the president to do better,” the group said.
