Chief Tony Anenih, the “Mr/ Fix It” of Nigerian politics, has been reported dead.

Unconfirmed social media reports on Sunday evening said that the former Minister of Works and one-time Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman of the formerly ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) died after a protracted illness.

Signs that Anenih, who played a key role in PDP’s dominance of Nigerian politics from the return to democratic rule in 1999 to 2015 was in the winter of his life emerged July this year when he cancelled his 85th birthday celebration, citing the sad state of affairs in the country.

Details of his reported demise are still being awaited.
