The Clarion Call, a socio-political movement based in Aba, Abia State, has called for issue based politics in Abia State and Igboland in general. The group frowned at the rate falsehood and lies are fast becoming part of parcel of local politics in Abia State through the activities of unscrupulous elements they described as “pay-as-you-go” publicists and propagandists. The group was reacting to comments attributed to one Paul Mmeregini during a recent press conference in Umuahia, the state capital.

Spokesperson of the group, Mr. Chuks Uzoukwu, called on Abians both home and abroad to prevail on politicians like Chief Orji Uzor Kalu and Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah to rein in the likes of Paul Mmeregini “from heating up the polity with reckless utterances against the person of High Chief Ikechi Emenike, a world-class economist and international publisher.”

Continuing, Mr. Uzoukwu said: “it is inconceivable anywhere in the world that someone will build a home and allow strangers to come in and take over the place. If Chief Emenike did not work hard with other patriots to build APC to what it is today would people like Orji Uzor Kalu and Uche Ogah join? And this is what the likes of Mmeregini and his co-travellers fail to understand.”

Going down memory lane, Mr. Uzoukwu pointed out that when it was not fashionable to be in the APC in the South East, people like Chief Emenike staked everything to build, nurture and grow the party into what it is today. Mmeregini should not compare his deplorable sponsors with the impeccable profile of High Chief Ikechi Emenike. At least this respected Nigerian patriot has never been involved in fuel subsidy scam or looting of public funds. He is neither a ritualist nor a murderer.

Mmeregini should have taken his piece to lawyers so they will educate him on the likely consequences of his outburst which has crossed decent boundaries into libel. Dr Ndukwe and his group are in court to defend and claim their rights. It is a well known fact that all the lawyers defending the group Mmeregini represents are known PDP lawyers with the State PDP Vigilante (Bakassi Boys) in tow.

The truth is that Mmeregini is a semi-illiterate who ordinarily should not have a say in Abia, nay Nigerian politics, if not, he would not take up this dirty job he is now doing. Between those who believe in the rule of law and went to court to assert their rights, and those who abuse the nation’s courts as “kangaroo courts”, depends on thuggrey to achieve their aims, who are the real confusionists? The truth of the matter is that a lot of people are finding it hard to understand that Abians “will not return to Egypt again”.

The questions many should ask is which election has Orji Uzor Kalu won in Abia State since he lost control of any rigging machinery? He has contested Senatorial elections three times and lost all. Similarly, which election has Uche Ogah ever won beyond getting involved in frauds and shady deals? If you want to know those being sponsored by the PDP, go and scrutinize the bank transaction details of Donatus Nwankpa, ask him which government pays him monthly and why? Is it also a coincidence that all the lawyers who come to court to defend them are well PDP lawyers while their supporters are always brought to court with state government vehicles?

Lies, propaganda, insults and falsehoods will not deliver Abia State APC in the hands of criminals. Truth is that Chief Emenike is the best brand Abia APC has, the group said.
