Outcry over alleged imposition of the son of Aisha Buhari’s aide as APC candidate

There was outcry among some All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency over alleged imposition.

Some stakeholders and aspirants, who spoke to our correspondent on phone, said the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, was “pressurized and ‎even intimidated” to include the son of an aide to the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, as the party’s candidate for the seat.

It was learnt that the selection of the candidate, described as “unpopular” is likely to affect the party’s chances at the polls, with both presidential and National Assembly elections at stake in the federal constituency.

“They pressurised and intimidated Oshiomhole into putting Hajo Sani’s son as the candidate. This is a boy that was never part of the contenders. He was nowhere close to even number 10 among the contestants, but they used their power to make sure that his name is there,” a stakeholder said.

Another stakeholder noted that “this is somebody that didn’t even write a petition to the appeal panel of the party. How then can he be chosen to flag the party’s flag?

“The implication of all this is that we can’t even win the election in the FCT, because nobody knows him politically. With him, even the president can’t win in AMAC/Bwari during the elections. People will be so disenchanted.

“If it were somebody that has the political cloud and took part fully in the exercise, we wouldn’t have raised an alarm. But this is a different thing all entirely.

Recall that the APC primaries for the FCT was declared inconclusive by the committee that conducted the exercise, leaving the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) with the choice to nominate among the major contenders for the seat.
