2019: Omisore reacts to failure to secure APC National Assembly ticket

Otunba Omisore

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the just concluded governorship election in Osun State, Otunba Christopher Iyiola Omisore, has disclosed that the coalition that exists between his political party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is not for political gains.

There have been speculations that Omisore had been denied the National Assembly ticket and other political offices allegedly promised him by APC.

But the former senator dismissed the speculations that he entered into an agreement with the ruling party for personal political benefits, saying that there was no time SDP demanded for any political office from APC.

Omisore said: “Our coalition is not about negotiation for political offices like Senator; member, House of Representatives; member, House of Assembly or Commissioners and advisers; or board members but centeres on good governance, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and other things that can make life meaningful for the entire people of Osun.”

Omisore, who was deputy governor between 1999 and 2001 before he was impeached at the peak of the crisis that engulfed the then ruling party, Alliance for Democracy (AD), said that the partnership was in the best interest of workers and people of the state.

It will be recalled that Omisore led other SDP chieftains in the state into a coalition with candidate of APC, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, now governor-elect, and his political party to ensure victory for Oyetola.
