PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi
Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi, has assured that he would work harmoniously with his successor in Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano, if PDP wins the 2019 presidential ballot and forms the central government.
He gave the assurance while fielding questions from journalists after the courtesy visit to the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Enugu yesterday, shortly before he visited business mogul, Dr. Arthur Eze.
Asked how he hoped to work with Governor Obiano, who is of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) if he becomes Nigeria’s Vice President next year, Obi said: “The work of the Governor and that of the Vice President are parallel but complementary. While he will be in Anambra tending to state needs, I will be in Abuja making sure that the Federal Government carries out its obligations to all the states in Nigeria, including Anambra State. While he works on state roads, for example, the Federal Government will work on Federal roads, the Second Niger Bridge and other federal projects. In matters like this, the welfare of the people should be the leading principle and our individual concern.”
Obi, whose nomination as running mate by PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has elicited widespread endorsement, is remembered for fast-tracking Anambra’s development despite shutting down the cost of governance, and leaving healthy savings and investments while not borrowing during his watch.
