Anambra CP, Garba Umar
The Anambra State Police Command in its effort to further enhance safety and security in the state, on Friday, visited Regina Pacis Model Secondary School, Onitsha to sensitise students on the dangers of engaging in social vices such as cultism, drugs abuse, child stealing and child molestation.
Speaking on the topic “Enlightening young children at the grassroots level”, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mohammed Haruna, stressed the need for young children to be security conscious and refrain from joining Secret Cult and other Social vices through peer group Influence.
He explained that moral upbringing, socialisation process, strict parental control, patriotism and self-discipline were some of the areas that shape a child’s life in the right part.
The police spokesman urged parents to closely monitor their children against bad company and also discourage them from collecting gifts from strangers as according to him, they are the easiest ways to lure them into secret cults and other social vices.
In his remarks, the Director of the School, Rev Father Paschal Okonkwo, thanked the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, CP Garba Baba Umar, for the laudable initiative and for considering Regina Pacis Model School as the pioneering school for the sensitisation campaign.
He also thanked the CP for donating books on safety and security tips to the school.
